The original This Works pillow spray was created as a turn-down gift for Crowne Plaza Hotels in 2007. It contained Lavender, Vetivert and Camomile (as it still does today). Only after receiving so much positive feedback did we launch this product into the market in 2011, and it's now a global bestseller and award-winner in the UK, Australia, Germany, France and the US. Since then, customer testimonials have poured in. This was one of the many motivations for expanding our sleep expertise and evolving our range of sleep solutions – to help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and wake up feeling refreshed.

By the beginning of 2017 we had total confidence that our sleep products worked, based on years of user trials and customer testimonials, but we also wanted to know why they worked. And so we decided to support an independent functional MRI (fMRI) brain scan study, led by world-leading neuroscientist and medical doctor Professor Gaby Badre. During the study, two fragrances were tested and both activated the regions of the brain linked to smell. However, our Deep Sleep fragrance also activated specific areas of the brain associated with pleasure and calmness, enabling the research team to propose that the fragrance could evoke feelings of social comfort, trust and calmness - conceivably impacting sleep.
